The Skye Boat Song

最近好像都在懷念愛丁堡那段日子？雖然說都是回憶了，可是這實在是那種一不小心想起就很難回來的那種，像黑洞一樣XD

一時興起去Youtube找當時學的一些蘇格蘭民謠，最不能忘記的就是這首《The Syke Boat Song》了！當時我們學時是叫它「Speed Bonny Boat」，印象深刻除了它非常好聽、有有趣的歷史故事以外，就是因為Tattoo的風笛隊有演奏這首。我猜這應該是定番吧！可說是最廣為人知的蘇格蘭民謠之一。



放上的這個版本很好聽～演唱團體The Corrie也演唱了許多其他知名蘇格蘭民謠，在此先放上歌詞：

不過The Corries的這個版本歌詞順序有些不一樣，同時也少了最後一段。

這首歌是敘述蘇格蘭十八世紀的查理王子（中文Wiki）被英格蘭軍隊擊敗，搭上小船逃往Skye這個島上的故事。關於他的稱號「Bonny Prince Charlie」，雖然中文Wiki寫「小王子查理」，但事實上「Bonny」（或拼作Bonnie）在蘇格蘭方言中是指「漂亮（Pretty）」的意思。這位王子顯然以他的美貌著名XDDDD 能夠成功逃往Skye島，也是將他佯裝為女僕才辦到的～這樣的故事充滿傳奇色彩，所以才被編寫成了歌曲。

我很喜歡這首歌的歌詞，寫得很優美，本來想翻翻看的，可是覺得沒辦法翻得那麼美麗，就算了。光是第一句「Speed, bonnie boat, like a bird on the wind」就讓人感受到那蒼涼悲傷的感覺，催促著船兒快行，快點帶著他們的王子逃離。然而最後一段副歌前又唱道「Charlie will come again」，往Skye島去的小船又顯得充滿希望了。雖然看來Bonny Prince Charlie最後並沒有成功地東山再起。

因為這首歌觸及了英格蘭對蘇格蘭的征服歷史，所以其實它在Youtube頻道下的回應通常會開始戰英格蘭……像是說那些討厭這首歌的人都是英格蘭人之類的XD 雖然說好像很多人不知道，但是蘇格蘭對英格蘭的仇視可能沒有亞於台灣對中國就是了……

下面繼續貼幾首當時有學的蘇格蘭民謠，話說這些民謠通常都很悲傷……當時教唱的老師還半開玩笑地說，蘇格蘭的歌就是到最後大家都會死光光。





歌曲真的是很容易勾起回憶的東西～下次回去翻翻那個月所寫的日記好了；）
